I love starting my day with my Bible, my prayer journal, and a good cup of coffee. This calm ritual focuses my mind on the Lord and stabilizes me for the challenges ahead.

I will admit that despite my best intentions and a pinging alarm on my phone, some days I just cannot seem to get up as early as I want. On those days, I feel as if my footing is lost and my center of gravity out of alignment.

Instead of beating myself up, I have learned to extend myself grace for the weariness my body feels from multiple feedings with baby. On those days, especially, I need something simple to start my day.

While you may not be getting up in the middle of the night to feed a baby, chances are you have many days that are busy! Yet you still desire to spend time in God’s Word.

Here is where a scripture writing plan really shines!

What is a scripture writing plan?

A scripture writing plan is simple and requires no planning on your part. Using this scripture writing plan, get your bible, a writing utensil, and a journal (or paper) and let God’s Word speak to you as you copy the verse(s) of the day.

While I love to spend longer times in God’s Word, there are some days when all I have time for is to write out a verse of scripture. So often God has nurtured my heart in those few minutes and given me courage for the day ahead.

How can I use a scripture writing plan?

There are so many ways to use scripture writing plans!

  • For me, I love to start my mornings by copying a verse of scripture. At this busy stage of my life, often this simple copy work is all I have time for in the mornings and serves as my personal bible time.

  • I also have my oldest child copy the verse of the day into her school journal. In my mind this serves as both spiritual and academic benefits for my child. We have a chance to discuss a verse of scripture together, and my child also has practice writing well-written sentences with proper punctuation.

  • You could take a few minutes to write out these verses anytime of the day—on lunch break, quiet moments in the afternoon, or before bed to settle a busy mind.

Without further ado, here is my simple scripture plan that I created for the month of September. But this plan could be used anytime—not just September!

Friends, I hope you are encouraged through God’s Word. Even a simple verse of scripture can lift our hearts and give us courage to face the challenges of each day.

Copying something by hand is so helpful. It forces you to really slow down. That, in turns, gives you the chance to understand what you are reading! I started handwriting the Bible after you had either made a video or a post about it. Most mornings, I sit down and write out 1 notebook page. I started in the New Testament; in Matthew and I'm now on Chapter 7. Just a 1 subject spiral bound notebook and a #2 pencil. I can't believe how many things I just glossed over in these 7 chapters alone and I can't wait to see what the Holy Spirit reveals to me next!

I will try to take on this challenge if I can…
