One Sunday I wasn’t feeling the greatest, so I ended up staying home from church while the rest of the family made the trek up the mountain to our church home. I needed something easy and delicious to make for my family before they returned home, hungry and tired. Enter these easy hamburger sliders which were a rave success!
We like simple flavors around our house. I’ve found that with my family they just don’t like exotic ingredients or complex flavors. While the adventurous cook in me is sad at times over this fact, cooking for my crew is actually simpler than I think at times. So I’m learning to embrace this simplicity instead of fussing over it.
So here’s the recipe (if you can even call it that) for those insanely simple sliders that I made one lonely Sunday:
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (I used a "cube" of grass-fed beef)
Spices and seasonings. I used dried minced onion, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Use anything you like!
Hawaiian sweet rolls (or some other type of small dinner rolls that come in a cardboard box)
Butter, melted
Note: You could easily make this recipe bigger by doubling or even tripling. I would just recommend about a pound of meat per 12 rolls.
Directions
1. Line a small cookie sheet with parchment paper.

2. Sprinkle whatever spices and seasonings suit your fancy on the parchment paper. (This gives some flavor on the bottom side of the meat.)

3. Break up the meat and evenly distribute it over the spices. Then press the meat down into a thin layer, pushing the meat all the way to the edge if you can.
4. Season the top of the meat.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15-20 minutes or until done and slightly brown around the edges. Someday I’d like to experiment and try a 400-degree oven.

6. While the meat is cooking, it’s time to prep the rolls. Take the rolls out of the cardboard packaging. Slice them evenly in half and lay both sections onto a cookie sheet. Brush the tops of both sides with butter.
7. Once the meat is done, take it out of the oven. Top with cheese if desired.
8. Turn the oven to broil.

9. Put the rolls in the oven for 1-2 minutes. Do not walk away from the rolls! Keep an eye on them or they will burn (this is the voice of experience speaking…)

Voila! An easy, completely customizable meal that hopefully the whole family will love. For my gluten free peeps (of which I am one), simply ditch the bun (sad, I know). Top with any toppings that your heart desires!
Happy cooking!
