Mountain Morning | NEW Violin Music!

I love fiddle music. The happy melodies are so cheerful, and the frolicking tunes make me wish that I lived in the days of calico prairie dresses and barn dances.

This happy tune—“Mountain Morning”—seemed to dance out of my fingers as I doodled on my violin almost a year ago. I wanted to create a piece that reminded me of the jolly fiddling tunes with a bit of contemporary flare.

Not knowing what to call this little tune, I rolled several ideas around in my mind. Then it came to me on a brisk morning walk in early fall last year—Mountain Morning.

My family lives on a quiet cul-de-sac street on a small but nonetheless legitimate mountain in upstate South Carolina. I love taking morning walks before the street wakes up. This quiet time wakes up muscles for the day’s work ahead and also gives me reflective time before little feet patter and questions flow—ceaselessly.

“Mountain Morning” embodies the joyful hope I sense in the mornings when the day lies ahead, full of opportunity and anticipation. This piece brings me great pleasure to play, and I hope it brings you just as much joy to hear.
